Selected volunteers can take pride knowing that you will help our ocean and Gray's Reef as well as gain experience in nonprofits and ocean conservation. Merchandise, event tickets, and exclusive invitations throughout the year will also be offered to volunteers. Each of these roles will be virtual, so you can help out from home or anywhere! Many thanks for your interest! SOCIAL MEDIA ASSOCIATE Background: Gray's Reef National Marine Sanctuary is Georgia's amazing underwater park. The natural live-bottom reef is teeming with marine, including turtles, fish, soft corals, lobsters, sharks, and whales. Gray’s Reef National Marine Sanctuary Foundation aims to develop ocean stewards through education, public awareness, and supporting research and conservation of the sanctuary. We promote the sanctuary’s initiatives, raise funds on their behalf, make grants to the sanctuary, and develop events to raise awareness for ocean conservation to help protect Gray’s Reef and our ocean locally. We hope you will join us! Purpose: The Social Media Associate will create engaging content on our social media accounts to grow our online presence. GRNMSF has almost 1,000 followers on Facebook but only a handful on Twitter and Instagram. The sanctuary has a stunning collection of photos and videos to use as well as many events to promote throughout the year so the opportunity to expand our online presence is significant. Currently, we are not able to post enough to have a strong following, but with your help we can grow our social media presence considerably. Key Responsibilities: · Manage our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts · Grow each platform’s audience through steady, engaging posts and high quality images · Interact with partners, followers, and other organizations to diversify audience · Report monthly to Director on results Reporting to: Executive Director Location: Virtual volunteer, knowledge of Savannah is useful Hours: 3-5 hours per week Length: Ongoing need, commitment of at least one year preferred Training: You will receive thorough and ongoing training from the Executive Director about existing social media efforts, partners, and content available. For the first month, posts will be approved by Director first for accuracy.
