Gray’s Reef National Marine Sanctuary will host a two-day Ocean Film Festival for the 12th year, Friday, January 16 – Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the Lucas Theatre in downtown Savannah. This festival will feature several inspiring short-films and feature films from local, national, and emerging filmmakers with the aim to instill marine conservation and ocean stewardship in Georgia’s coastal residents. We use films to explore the creatures and beauty of the sea, the complexity of the marine ecosystem, and our maritime heritage.

We also focus on our relationship with the ocean and the environment, while highlighting Georgia’s underwater treasure: Gray’s Reef. Therefore, our theme this year is “connectivity.” In what ways are we all connected to the ocean? In what ways does the ocean connect our cultures around the world?

Last year, the festival drew a wide audience of over 2,200 attendees. Now in our 12th year, the festival is at an exciting juncture. After 11 years of offering the festival for free, 2015 is the first year we are able to accept sponsorships and donations for admission, due to the recent formation of the Gray’s Reef National Marine Sanctuary Foundation. The vast majority of survey participants indicated they would be willing to pay a nominal admission fee, which reinforces the festival’s public value.

The final film schedule is now available! You can preview the film trailers for Friday night, Saturday night, and Saturday morning's children's program as well.

All ticket sales are donations to Gray's Reef NMSF with the following amounts:
Friday evening: $5
Saturday morning children's program only: $5
Saturday all films: $10
Saturday night reception: $15
